Saving configurations

The TCP/IP control panels lets you create and save multiple configurations; you can then easily switch back and forth between your LAN settings, your PPP settings, using Static IP address or MacIP, etc.

Selecting "Configurations" from the File menu (or using Keyboard shortcut Command-K) will bring up this window:

  • To create your settings, select an existing configuration, and choose "duplicate". (The first time you open this window, you'll have one configuration, named "default.")
  • Give the new settings a meaningful name (like "ISP", "Office", "Home").
  • Select "Make Active" to activate that configuration.
  • Make your changes to the settings in the TCP/IP control panel.
  • When you close the control panel, you'll be promped to save the settings.
  • The settings are stored in the TCP/IP preferences file.
